Servo press with robot automation
ASA Automation presented together with Wanzke Umformtechnologie for the first time at EuroBLECH 2024 (22 - 25 October in Hanover). A servo press with robot automation took centre stage at the trade fair.
Even in manual operation, the CSP-60 hydraulic servo press is one of the most economical medium-size presses in the Wanzke programme. This press works with a maximum pressing force of 60 tonnes. ‘Economical’ for two main reasons: Firstly, Wanzke presses are considered to be extremely durable and secondly, they offer a wide range of applications. Managing Director Mario Krämer explains: ‘We can equip these presses in a highly customised way.’ This means that the force-displacement curve can be adjusted to suit the task at hand and thus determine the precision. The C-frame design of the press offers maximum accessibility and is also suitable for larger components. The design also facilitates automation with a robot.
The future of the industry starts here
At EuroBLECH, ASA Automation demonstrated how such a press can be automated. The press was shown in combination with a Fanuc CRX-25iA robot. The sequence of the demo application is simple and practical: The robot grabs a sheet from a magazine and places it in the press. The press then performs a stroke, after which the robot removes the sheet from the press and it is measured by a 3D camera station (quality control). If the sheet metal is OK, it is placed in a second magazine for further processing. Recording the process after the pressing process using an integrated camera offers the advantage that it is possible to quickly recognise whether the tool has any damage. The reject rate can be reduced with the help of the vision system. A tool from a current customer project is used for the simulated stamping process. This EuroBLECH installation is a good example of how presses can also be subsequently automated.
We can look back on four exciting and instructive days with many great encounters and discussions. We are already looking forward to the next trade fair, where we can present our own ideas and gather new inspiration.
Until then,
Your team from ASA Automation
